Lee Jong-ju, spokesperson for the Ministry of Unification, reaffirmed the existing stance of not commenting on the claims of North Korean propaganda media, which are not official North Korean positions, during the regular briefing that day, and responded, "North Korea must recognize that mutual respect is a matter agreed upon several times between the South and the North and is the basic foundation for the development of inter-Korean relations."
The Ministry of Unification stated that it is closely monitoring the recent trend of North Korean propaganda media increasing the level of criticism against our side.
North Korean propaganda media have been intensifying anti-South Korea slander through harsh expressions ahead of the South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises scheduled for mid-next month. The Tongil Sinbo criticized on the 20th, saying, "The South Korean military hawks are boasting about clearly announcing the timing of the joint military exercises and disclosing the contents of the field maneuver training to the media."
