"Based on Extensive Public Service Experience, Will Contribute to Policy Changes for Mid-sized Companies and Enhance the Status of Junggyeonryeon"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Park Il-jun, former president of Korea East-West Power, was inaugurated as the full-time vice chairman of the Korea Federation of Medium-sized Enterprises (Korea Federation) on the 21st. His term is three years, until March 2025.
The Korea Federation announced that it approved the election of Park Il-jun as full-time vice chairman at the '2022 2nd Board of Directors Meeting' held in writing from the 3rd to the 16th. Vice Chairman Park is an expert in industrial and energy policy who has held key positions in economic and industrial ministries for 29 years.
Park, who passed the 31st Administrative Examination in 1987 and entered public service, served as Director of Resource Development at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Commercial Counselor at the Consulate General in New York of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Policy Planning Officer at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Director of the Information and Communication Industry Bureau at the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Director of Industrial Policy and Director of Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and was appointed president of Korea East-West Power in February 2018, where he promoted various projects. Since May last year, he has been working as an industry-academia cooperation professor at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST).
Vice Chairman Park said, "At a time when the domestic and international economic environment is rapidly changing with the launch of the new government and the imminent post-COVID era, I feel a heavy responsibility to be part of an important path to seek new competitiveness for medium-sized enterprises as the center of the growth ecosystem," adding, "In line with the leadership of newly appointed Chairman Choi Jin-sik, I will do my best to enhance the status of the Korea Federation as the only statutory economic organization representing medium-sized enterprises, not only by expanding communication to lead policy changes that medium-sized enterprises can feel based on the policy know-how accumulated through my long public service experience."
