[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] GS25 announced on the 21st that it will launch a new espresso menu through its coffee brand Cafe25 and undertake a renovation by applying newly blended coffee beans.
For the espresso menu, GS25 optimized coffee bean extraction and produced single-use espresso cups to be introduced at stores nationwide. Additionally, based on sales data analysis, the number of latte products, which had been operated in about 10 varieties, will be reduced to the top 4 best-selling items. From next month, fresh milk will be used in the basic cafe latte menu to enhance quality.
GS25 collaborated with professional baristas from the Korea Coffee Association to present a new Cafe25 coffee bean blend for the first time in four years. The blend of beans from four famous coffee-producing regions?Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil, and Ethiopia?was readjusted over about five months to emphasize the flavor of roasting and a clean aftertaste, adding a balanced acidity.
A GS25 official said, "Since 2015, we have anticipated that coffee beans would become the most important differentiated product in convenience stores and have spared no investment. Cafe25, which has significantly driven convenience store coffee bean sales, is expected to use this opportunity as a stepping stone for Rebranding 2.0."
