[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On Monday the 21st, the vernal equinox when day and night are of equal length, the morning low temperatures in inland areas dropped below freezing, and frost was observed.


The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) reported that as temperatures fell overnight, the morning low temperatures as of 6 a.m. were around -5 to 0 degrees Celsius inland and 3 to 6 degrees Celsius along the coast, with frost observed in some inland areas experiencing clear weather.


As of 6 a.m., the morning low temperatures were recorded as follows: Seoul -0.2°C, Suwon -1.7°C, Paju -4.6°C, Dongducheon -3.0°C, Icheon -2.8°C, Cheorwon -5.0°C, Inje -2.8°C, Chuncheon -2.3°C, Yeongwol -1.7°C, Wonju -1.0°C, Chungju -3.0°C, Jecheon -4.2°C, Cheonan -2.8°C, Boeun -2.1°C, Daejeon -0.8°C, Jangsu -2.1°C, Imsil -1.1°C, Namwon -1.1°C, Jeonju 0.6°C, Gwangju 1.8°C, Andong -1.8°C, Bonghwa -2.0°C, Uiseong -1.6°C, Geochang -1.3°C, and Mungyeong -1.0°C.


The KMA advised, "For the time being, morning temperatures will drop to around 0 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country, making it cold. The temperature difference between day and night will be about 15 degrees Celsius, especially inland, so please be cautious about health management during the changing seasons, including immune system weakening caused by sudden temperature changes."


The highest daytime temperatures today are expected to range from 8 to 15 degrees Celsius. Seoul 11°C, Incheon 9°C, Suwon 10°C, Cheongju 11°C, Andong 12°C, Daejeon 12°C, Pohang 11°C, Jeonju 13°C, Daegu 14°C, Gwangju 15°C, Ulsan 12°C, Busan 14°C, Changwon 14°C, Yeosu 12°C, Jeju 12°C, etc. Morning temperatures will remain around 0 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country until the 23rd, making it cold.


Clouds will increase occasionally nationwide, and rain or snow is expected in Jeju Island from late afternoon. Light rain is expected along the southern coast of Jeollanam-do at night. Expected precipitation amounts are 5 to 30 mm in Jeju until the 22nd, and less than 5 mm in Ulleungdo and Dokdo.


In the southern offshore waters of Jeju Island, strong winds of 10 to 16 meters per second will blow from the afternoon of the 21st until the early morning of the 23rd, and waves will be very high at 2 to 4 meters. In the outer eastern waters of the South Sea, strong winds will blow until the night of the 22nd, with waves reaching 2 to 4 meters high.
