[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yoon Jae-sang, a member of the Industrial Economy Committee of the Incheon City Council, strongly urged improvements to the poor educational environment in island areas.
According to the city council on the 20th, Councilor Yoon demanded solutions to issues such as the construction of a shared dormitory for faculty members in Ganghwa-gun and securing a parking lot for Manisan Kindergarten during the 3rd plenary session of the 278th extraordinary meeting held on the 18th.
Councilor Yoon stated, "The newly built faculty dormitory for teachers assigned to Ganghwa-gun is far too insufficient compared to the number of applicants wishing to move in," and insisted, "Measures must be taken to increase the number of units so that all teachers who wish to move in can be accommodated."
He also strongly criticized, "Manisan Kindergarten, which opened in 2011, still lacks a parking lot, forcing children to walk a long distance from the school bus to the classroom."
He urged, "The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has been delaying the installation of a parking lot for various reasons," and added, "The old cafeteria of nearby Josan Elementary School should be rebuilt and relocated, and the site should be used as the Manisan parking lot to resolve the safety issues of young children's commuting."
