Expansion of Enforcement Scope for Charging Interference Activities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 13th that it will strengthen the mandatory installation standards for electric vehicle charging facilities in accordance with this year's revision of the Eco-friendly Vehicle Act and expand the scope of crackdowns on charging obstruction acts.
Previously, only apartment complexes with 500 or more households were required to install electric vehicle charging facilities, but due to the amendment of the law, apartment complexes with 100 or more households must install electric vehicle charging facilities in at least 5% of the total parking spaces.
The crackdown target for electric vehicle charging obstruction acts has been expanded from mandatory installation charging facilities to all charging zones, and if an act obstructing charging in charging zones and designated parking areas is detected, a fine of 100,000 won to 200,000 won will be imposed.
However, to minimize confusion among citizens due to the imposition of fines, the district will operate an intensive publicity and guidance period until the end of June and plans to impose fines starting from July.
The subjects of fines include ▲parking by general vehicles ▲parking or stacking objects at entrances and surrounding areas to obstruct charging ▲using charging facilities for other purposes. In addition, long-term parking of electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles in charging zones will also be subject to crackdown.
A Dong-gu official said, “We expect that the revision of the law this year will increase the convenience for eco-friendly vehicle users,” and added, “We will actively promote the changes to residents and establish a proper culture of eco-friendly vehicle use.”
