[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] An executive of the medical device company Osstem Implant, which was embroiled in a 220 billion won embezzlement scandal, reportedly sent a message to employees threatening retaliation if they supported President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol on the presidential election day.
On the 10th, according to the anonymous workplace community Blind and online communities, Osstem Implant's regional sales director Mr. A sent a KakaoTalk message to his subordinate Mr. B in the early hours of the previous day, saying, "How can you vote for Yoon Suk-yeol even after I said that? Truly clueless," according to a post revealing the message.
Mr. A threatened Mr. B, saying, "I'll show you. Even if I get fired, if Yoon Suk-yeol wins today, this director will show you what tyrannical politics is, especially one branch should be prepared." Mr. A also sent messages such as "No leaving work early (leaving the site) allowed, return by 6:30 PM, no leaving before then," "Daily sales activity logs must be written," and "From tomorrow, the bottom two branches in the first quarter will be subject to measures if Yoon Suk-yeol wins today."
After this fact became known, Osstem Implant reportedly took measures such as placing the executive on standby.
Osstem Implant stated, "The employee in question is currently on standby," and "We plan to hold a personnel committee soon to discuss the level of disciplinary action."
