He said, "I want to sincerely commend you for doing really well. I want to say I love you," while also comforting, "Sometimes you can do well but still lose an election."

On the 10th, appearing on KBS's election broadcast, Yoo said as Lee's defeat became apparent, "It is now possible to estimate how many votes remain uncounted," adding, "If I were Lee, I would acknowledge that the remaining votes are too few to overturn the current gap." KBS reported that with 86.0% of the nationwide votes counted, Yoon Seok-youl, the People Power Party presidential candidate, was likely to win. At that time, Yoon's expected vote share was projected at 48.6%, while Lee's was 47.8%.

Yoo also offered words of consolation to the ruling party, saying, "I extend my sympathies to the Democratic Party lawmakers, party members, and volunteers who fought a great election campaign alongside candidate Lee." He continued, "If your philosophy is truly right, I believe the voters will recognize it again soon. That is how elections work."

He also congratulated President-elect Yoon Seok-youl, saying, "I offer my congratulations to Yoon Seok-youl, the likely winner from the People Power Party, and to all who supported him," adding, "If one thinks lightly, they will realize how great the risks and pains are that come with holding power. I ask that you use the power in your hands well, with a heart that serves the people."

Meanwhile, at that time, KBS reported that with 86.0% of the nationwide votes counted, Yoon's victory was likely with a 95% probability. Yoon's expected vote share was 48.6%, and Lee's was 47.8%.
