[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will hold a series of performances this month in each district to provide cultural enjoyment for residents welcoming spring.

First, on the 12th at 5 p.m., the fusion gugak and classical music performance "Spring Comes Down" will be held at the Bukahyeon Culture and Sports Center Art Hall, located in the Cheonyeon, Chunghyeon, and Bukahyeon districts. Traditional Korean instruments and Western instruments will blend to present familiar drama and animation theme songs.

Next, on the 19th at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., the family musical "Spring Day's Bear," which the whole family can enjoy together, will be staged at the Seodaemun Culture and Sports Center Grand Theater in the Hongje and Hongeun districts. Adapted from the original book by writer Song Mi-kyung, the work depicts the happenings that occur when a bear appears in a boring classroom. Especially, an actor in special makeup resembling a bear captivates the eyes and ears of children.

Then, on the 26th at 6:30 p.m., the "Spring Night Trot Show in Seodaemun" will take place at the Bulgwangcheon Outdoor Performance Hall in the Gajwa district. Singers Park Seo-jin, Punggeum, Bravo, and others will perform, offering a stage where the audience can joyfully sing along and enjoy.

All these performances are free and will be conducted in compliance with quarantine rules. For inquiries, contact the Seodaemun-gu Office Culture and Sports Division.

Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "I hope this will be a place to share the vitality and hope of spring flowers, and I look forward to the day when COVID-19 ends soon, daily life is restored, and performances can be enjoyed freely without masks."

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is operating the volunteer program "Together, Bring Your Own Container," which encourages the use of reusable containers until April 30.

This volunteer program is a lifestyle volunteer activity that reduces the use of disposable packaging such as plastic and vinyl generated from food takeout by bringing food in reusable containers.

The purpose is to reduce disposable product use and create a culture of volunteering in daily life that anyone can easily participate in.

With the expansion of non-face-to-face consumption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of disposable products has surged, becoming a serious social problem causing environmental pollution.

Accordingly, the district has prepared a win-win volunteer program that encourages the use of reusable containers and allows participants to earn volunteer hours for the sake of our precious Earth and a better future.

Any registered volunteer in Gangseo-gu (with 180,000 registered volunteers) can participate. Applications can be made by accessing the Gangseo-gu Volunteer Center website and clicking the program guide image posted in the notices by April 29.

Before applying, applicants must watch a pre-education video and attach a screenshot of a scene from the video when applying. The video can be viewed on the Gangseo-gu Volunteer Center website.

On the selected date, participants visit one restaurant or cafe located in Gangseo-gu, fill their prepared reusable container with food, record the process, and upload it to their personal SNS.

The SNS photo must include a pledge to reduce disposable products or an activity review, along with the designated hashtags (#TogetherBringYourOwnContainer #ProtectEnvironmentInDailyLife #GangseoVolunteerCenter).

Within seven days after the activity, participants must submit an activity report through the Gangseo-gu Volunteer Center website to receive one hour of volunteer credit per participation. Participation is allowed up to twice a month.

The district plans to actively promote this to attract more residents' interest and participation in using reusable containers and reducing disposable products.

An official said, "This volunteer activity will be a small but meaningful action for a beautiful and clean Earth. We hope many residents will show interest and participate as it is a great opportunity to volunteer and protect the environment." For detailed inquiries, contact the Gangseo-gu Cooperation and Decentralization Division.

Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will hold a special lecture on college admission support titled "Understanding the 2023 College Admission Process" for local high school students and parents who have entered the full-fledged exam preparation period with the new semester.

The lecture will be held live on YouTube from 6:30 p.m. on the 17th for about two hours. Lecturer Kim Sun-wook, a university admission guidance officer at the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and a teacher at Seoul Girls' High School, will analyze the 2023 college admission schedule and major admission types and contents based on the latest admission trends, guiding proper exam preparation.

Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, it has been difficult for local examinees and parents to obtain accurate information about college admissions. This non-face-to-face online content provides a practical opportunity to set the direction for the 2023 academic year admissions.

Residents wishing to attend can apply through the Seongbuk-gu Office website under "Recruitment Courses" and receive the access link and lecture materials.

A Seongbuk-gu official said, "This special lecture, composed of valuable content such as the 2023 admission schedule, admission trends, major admission types, and how to prepare for them, will help examinees and parents easily understand the complex college admission process and systematically plan their admission strategies."

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) is recruiting youth to join the "2022 Yangcheon-gu Youth Autonomous Activity Group" until April 1.

Since 2016, the district has provided youth-led social participation opportunities through the Youth Autonomous Activity Group project and operated various programs to promote their rights and interests.

The Youth Autonomous Activity Group being recruited this time consists of three fields: ▲ Youth Autonomous Committee ▲ Youth Culture Cafe Operation Team ▲ Youth Reporters Team.

First, the "Youth Autonomous Committee" leads healthy coalition activities as the main body of youth autonomous activities, supporting growth as proper community members through understanding the values of autonomy and participation. Based on local issues, they form small groups around five themes: ▲ Culture ▲ Human Rights ▲ Career ▲ Environment ▲ Safety, conduct issue research and hold discussion forums to solve local problems. They then plan and implement follow-up activities based on solutions derived from discussions.

Second, the "Youth Culture Cafe Operation Team" utilizes the youth space within the Yangcheon-gu Career Experience Support Center to plan various cultural and autonomous activities, including career development. After receiving barista training in the internal cafe space, members get the opportunity to make and sell beverages themselves. They also promote small-scale cultural activities such as librarian experience through book organization within the cafe, helping foster youth creativity.

Lastly, the "Youth Reporters Team" is a popular course for youth aspiring to enter the media field, divided into broadcasting reporters and newspaper reporters. The broadcasting reporters handle everything from news planning to on-site reporting and hosting, broadcasting the content on Yangcheon-gu's official YouTube channel, Yangcheon TV, naturally developing media skills. Newspaper reporters write articles on local issues and social topics, receive editorial guidance, contribute to magazines, and publish the 2022 Yangcheon Youth Magazine, enhancing their writing skills.

The recruitment period is from March 7 to April 1. Youth wishing to participate can apply online via Google Forms or by scanning the QR code on the promotional poster.

For detailed information about the Youth Autonomous Activity Group recruitment, contact the Yangcheon-gu Career Experience Support Center.

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "Proactive experiences and diverse collaborative activities during youth are a solid foundation for growing into future talents. Yangcheon-gu will continue to actively discover and promote rich and substantial youth programs."
