Boseong World Tea EXPO Wins Emerald Award at the 1st Festival Management Awards

Rising Expectations for the 10th Boseong World Tea Expo from April 29 to May 1

[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeollanam-do Boseong-gun announced on the 7th that the ‘Boseong World Tea Expo’ won the Emerald Award in the natural ecology category at this year’s 1st Festival Management Awards.

The 1st Festival Management Awards were jointly hosted by the Korea Tourism Culture Development Institute (KOTRIN) and the office of National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee Chairman Lee Chae-ik.

Since 2020, Boseong-gun boldly transformed the Boseong World Tea Expo into an untact festival considering the COVID-19 situation, and last year, about 240,000 visitors participated online.

In particular, it received favorable evaluations for sharing the excellence of Korean tea culture with tea enthusiasts worldwide through content that introduces Boseong tea culture and history as well as Korean tea culture, and for providing a healing opportunity to the public exhausted by COVID-19.

This Festival Management Award was given to local governments, public organizations, general civic groups, companies, or individuals who contributed to regional economic and tourism culture development through festival revitalization. After screening by the Festival Management Awards Selection Committee, three local governments including Jinan Red Ginseng Festival and Goyang International Flower Fair, and three individuals were selected as awardees.

A Boseong-gun official said, “Since the Boseong World Tea Expo received a good evaluation at the Festival Management Awards, we are preparing for the 10th Boseong World Tea Expo, to be held from April 29 to May 1 next month, to be a meaningful event that creates income opportunities through direct promotion and sales for tea farmers struggling due to COVID-19, and provides high-quality tea products to the public, offering health and healing.”
