Hands Gathered in Hwamaeul Village Scarred by Fire... Gyeongbuk Province Continues Volunteer Support and Relief Supplies for Uljin Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province (right), is inspecting the wildfire site in Uljin by riding a Korea Forest Service helicopter on the 5th.

Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 7th that warmth is being delivered to the wildfire-affected areas that started on the 4th in Ducheon-ri, Buk-myeon, Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk.


On the 4th and 5th, emergency relief sets, blankets, towels, bottled water, winter clothing sets, beverages, and other relief supplies sent by the National Disaster Relief Association arrived.


Companies such as BGF Retail, Lotte Holdings, KT, and Hyundai Glovis also supported snacks, relief kits, masks, and more through the Disaster Relief Association.


The Korean Red Cross Gyeongbuk Branch is also providing emergency relief sets, relief tents, and meal vehicles. GS Retail, SPC Group, and others donated bread, beverages, cup noodles, bottled water, and more through the Red Cross.


Korea Water Resources Corporation, Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Daegu City Hall, POSCO, Hyundai Motor Company, and Uljin Wind Power Plant also extended helping hands by supporting emergency relief kits, bottled water, fruit, daily necessities, and more.


The Gyeongbuk Psychological Recovery Support Center dispatched counselors to shelters for displaced residents to support the psychological recovery of the affected residents.


Volunteer efforts are also ongoing. On the 5th, 524 members from 18 organizations including Uljin volunteer firefighters, the Red Cross, and women's groups carried out relief for displaced residents and wildfire suppression volunteer work.


On the 6th, 558 members from 30 organizations including the Saemaul Association, Autonomous Crime Prevention Union, Red Cross, and volunteer firefighters volunteered on their day off to provide meal support and wildfire suppression for the affected residents.


Eleven members of the ‘Beautiful Companion’ group from Seo-gu, Daegu rushed to Uljin and have been helping displaced residents for two days.


Governor Lee Cheol-woo of Gyeongbuk visited volunteers on the afternoon of the 6th and said, “Thank you for offering warm hands, forgetting even the holidays,” and urged, “Please continue to practice love for the affected residents until the end.”


Governor Lee has been stationed at the Uljin wildfire site for three days since the 4th, directing wildfire suppression and support for the affected areas.
