[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is transferring the payroll tasks of educational public officials from schools to education support offices starting this month.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education had previously established a plan last year to support common administrative tasks at schools in order to reduce the workload at school sites, and has been promoting the transfer of payroll tasks for 10 types of educational public officials working at schools.
Accordingly, the Gyeonggi Office of Education transferred the payroll tasks for administrative clerks, librarians, and Wee Project specialized counselors last year. This year, the scope has been expanded to include special education full-time instructors, kindergarten after-school coordinators, and elementary childcare coordinators.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education plans to transfer all payroll tasks for special education instructors, nutritionists, cooks, and cooking assistants to education support offices by 2023, when the 4th generation NICE system is introduced.
Han Geun-soo, Administrative Management Officer at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, emphasized, "We will form a dedicated team consisting of staff from schools, education support offices, and the provincial office of education to continuously identify common administrative tasks that education support offices can perform. We will continue to support school tasks based on field opinions and create an educational environment where educators can focus on educational activities."
Meanwhile, since last year, the Gyeonggi Office of Education has designated tasks such as regular teacher salary increments and step reclassification, hiring of fixed-term teachers, and air quality management?which were previously handled by schools?as common administrative tasks and transferred them to education support offices.
