NVIDIA Hacking Group Claims "Samsung Electronics Servers Also Hacked"

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The foreign hacker group 'Lapsus,' which hacked Nvidia, has claimed to have hacked Samsung Electronics. Samsung Electronics stated that they are currently assessing the situation.

According to industry sources and foreign media on the 5th, 'Lapsus' claimed to have hacked Samsung Electronics' servers on the same day and released some confidential data including source code. They stated that the data they stole amounts to a total of 190 gigabytes (GB) and that they uploaded it to the file-sharing program torrent. They also said they would deploy more servers to increase download speeds.

The torrent is reported to contain source code related to Samsung Electronics' security platform 'Knox,' device security, encryption, and Samsung Pass. Samsung Electronics is currently assessing the situation.

Earlier, on the 1st (local time), Lapsus claimed to have extracted important data including the graphics processing unit (GPU) schematics from the servers of the U.S. semiconductor company Nvidia. Nvidia later confirmed this. Lapsus has threatened to release the data if Nvidia does not enter negotiations. However, it is not known whether they demanded a ransom from Samsung Electronics following this hacking.
