Kim Oh-yeon, president of the Korea Management and Technology Consulting Association (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Consulting Association’), has successfully been re-elected as the 15th president. He will lead the Consulting Association until February 2025.

The Consulting Association, under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, is composed of approximately 17,000 management consultants and technology consultants. Since its establishment in 1986, it has contributed to the growth and development of small and medium enterprises and small business owners. In 2021, with the enforcement of the “Act on Management Consultants and Technology Consultants,” it was newly launched as a statutory body for national qualification holders.

The recent presidential election of the Consulting Association, held on February 25, 2022, was the first time in the 37 years since its inception that members directly participated in voting. This direct election was realized as part of President Kim Oh-yeon’s campaign promise when he took office in 2019.

Kim Oh-yeon was confirmed elected with an overwhelming support rate of 61.6% of regular members. On February 28, 2022, the Consulting Association held its 37th regular general assembly, where the elected President Kim Oh-yeon was officially announced and presented with a certificate of election. Certificates were also presented to Kwon Hyung-nam and Hong Tae-ik, who were elected as auditors in this election.

Kim Oh-yeon has a broad network spanning politics and economics, having served as standing auditor of the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation, CEO of Korail Networks, and vice chairman of the National Assembly Legislative Policy Research Group. This is expected to accelerate the expansion of the Consulting Association’s revenue-generating businesses and enhance the status of consultants.

In his inaugural speech as the 15th president of the Consulting Association, Kim Oh-yeon stated, “For a major transformation and innovation of the Consulting Association, we will expand consultants’ professional fields and secure exclusive rights through amendments to the Consulting Act, and achieve the ‘6 major visions and 30 promises,’ including entering the growth trajectory of consulting corporations and consulting businesses. We will raise our consultants’ revenue and status to become the best national qualification holders leading small and medium enterprises and national competitiveness. We will do our utmost to create a ‘representative expert of the Korean people’ and a ‘prestigious Consulting Association.’”
