Biden: "G7 Agrees on Massive Russia Sanctions Package"... Speech Coming Soon

[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] U.S. President Joe Biden announced on the 24th (local time) that the Group of Seven (G7) leaders have "agreed on a massive sanctions package and additional economic measures" against Russia, which invaded Ukraine.

President Biden stated this through his official Twitter account ahead of his national address in the afternoon, saying, "This morning, I met with G7 leaders to discuss Vladimir Putin's unjust attack on Ukraine."

He added, "We stand with the brave people of Ukraine."

President Biden is scheduled to deliver a national address at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time to announce additional sanctions against Russia. The speech was originally planned for 12:00 p.m. but was postponed to 12:30 p.m. and then to 1:30 p.m. The corresponding time in Korea is 3:30 a.m.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also revealed economic sanctions through a parliamentary speech that completely exclude Russian banks from the UK financial system.

Meanwhile, President Putin announced the start of a special military operation in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine the previous night. Immediately after, missile strikes were launched on airports near Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and major cities, and Russian troops stationed in Belarus in northern Ukraine crossed the border and advanced into Ukraine.

During a meeting with representatives of domestic companies on the same day, President Putin expressed caution ahead of additional Western economic sanctions but claimed that Russia's military operation in Ukraine was an unavoidable measure.
