[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] The police have closed the case, finding no criminal charges against a man in his 30s who placed photos of the three generations of North Korea's Kim family?Kim Il-sung, Kim Jong-il, and Kim Jong-un?in the middle of a market.

The Seongnam Jungwon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 22nd that they identified the identity of Mr. A, who left the photos of the 'Kim family three generations' at Moran Market in Seongnam City, confirmed the facts, and concluded the investigation.

On the 18th at around 5 p.m., a citizen discovered three framed photos of the three generations placed side by side on a bench in the market and reported it to the police. The police tracked CCTV footage to identify Mr. A and investigated the facts on the 21st.

The investigation revealed that Mr. A, an ordinary office worker, received the photos of the 'Kim family three generations' as a gift during a so-called 'useless gift exchange' game while traveling with acquaintances about two months ago. Afterwards, Mr. A kept the photos in his car and, on the day of the incident, left the photos behind when he emptied the car to have it repaired.

A police official stated, "After completing investigations of Mr. A and those around him, it was determined to be a simple incident with no charges such as treason. Considering Supreme Court precedents, we judged that prosecution was not possible and thus closed the case."
