[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Tourism Organization (hereinafter referred to as the Organization) announced on the 21st that it has broken ground for the Osiano Resort Hotel on the hotel site in the Osiano Tourist Complex, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, and has begun construction of the hotel.

The construction of the Osiano Resort Hotel has been promoted since 2018 to expand tourism infrastructure in the southwestern region of the country and revitalize the local economy. With a construction cost of approximately 40.9 billion KRW, it aims to be completed in the second half of 2023. The site area is 39,166㎡, total floor area 9,473㎡, with one basement floor and five above-ground floors, and it is a 4-star hotel with 120 rooms, all offering sea views.

The hotel will be built by modernly reinterpreting Nokwoodang, the representative traditional architecture of Haenam by Gosan Yun Seondo. To enjoy the beautiful nature of the complex, spaces such as an infinity pool, outdoor terrace, and five gardens have been arranged.

The room layout is differentiated to allow various types of sea views. In particular, it will be constructed as an eco-friendly hotel by obtaining certifications such as ▲Green Building ▲Zero Energy ▲Energy Efficiency ▲Barrier-Free Living. A robot responsible for non-face-to-face comprehensive guidance, including room service and information services, will also be introduced using smart technology.

About 40 people, including Oh Young-woo, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ahn Young-bae, President of the Korea Tourism Organization, National Assembly member Yoon Jae-gap, Governor Kim Young-rok of Jeollanam-do, and Mayor Myung Hyun-kwan of Haenam-gun, will attend the groundbreaking ceremony. The Organization plans to sign a safety work agreement with each construction company and construction project management service representatives to organize a safety management system and strengthen mutual cooperation.

Kim Seok, head of the Osiano Resort Hotel project team at the Organization, said, “It will be a classy hotel where you can see the sea of Haenam from all 120 rooms,” and added, “We will work more closely with Jeollanam-do and Haenam-gun to attract private investment through the hotel construction.”
