[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Wooseok] A claim of "gender division" has been raised regarding the male and female applicant interview scenes in Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, TV commercial. The People Power Party responded by calling it "fake news," asking, "Are you feeling guilty?"

On the 15th, Yoon's TV commercial titled "Yoon Seok-yeol Raised by the People, The President Who Changes Tomorrow - People's Edition" was released. The controversial part is a scene in the middle of the video during a job interview where a male applicant looks with a stern expression at a female applicant sitting brightly smiling next to him, then leaves the interview room with a dark face while removing the exam slip attached to his left chest. At this moment, the narration says, "Restore the broken fairness and common sense."

The ruling party immediately criticized this scene as "gender division." Park Chan-dae, chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party's election committee, wrote on his Facebook the day before, "It's always about division."

Kang Min-jin, leader of the Youth Justice Party, also stated on Facebook the same day, "The People Power Party is adopting an election strategy that relies on misogyny to gain votes from one gender," adding, "However, no matter the election strategy, the reality of gender discrimination should not be distorted."

In response, Jang Ye-chan, head of the Youth Headquarters of the People Power Party's election committee, posted on Facebook, "The person who came out of the interview room with a desperate face is an ordinary young person in Korea without connections or power," and "The seat next to him is occupied by children of hypocritical vested interests who get into schools and jobs through parental power."

He continued, "It naturally reminds one of the Cho Kuk incident and the employment of the suspicious private equity fund of candidate Lee Jae-myung's eldest son," and criticized, "Is it because they feel guilty? Democratic Party supporters are spreading fake news as if the young man only looked at the female applicant. They seem startled because she looks like former Minister Cho Kuk's daughter."

Jang added, "(It is actually the Democratic Party supporters) who are dividing men and women," and said, "Doctors and nurses, the entire nation and self-employed, Honam and Yeongnam regions, large shopping malls and small business owners?the Democratic Party's election strategy is to endlessly divide the people."
