[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] A woman in her 20s who had been wandering around protective facilities came home for the weekend and was sexually assaulted by her father. The victim sought help at a convenience store, and the store employee helped the victim by blocking the father who came to find his daughter shortly after.
According to the police on the 20th, the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency sent a man in his 50s, Mr. A, to the prosecution on the 18th on charges of sexual assault within the family.
Investigations revealed that Mr. A committed the crime when his daughter, Ms. B, who had been moving between youth protection facilities, came to visit her father's house for the weekend. Mr. A, who had previously committed sex crimes and was subject to personal information registration, reportedly threatened his daughter with a weapon during the crime.
According to closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage released by Channel A that day, Ms. B, a woman in her 20s and Mr. A's daughter, entered a convenience store late at night without even wearing a coat. Ms. B asked the convenience store employee for help, saying, "After being sexually assaulted by my father, I came on an errand to buy soju."
The convenience store employee handed Ms. B a phone, and she used it to report to the police. Shortly after, when Mr. A entered the convenience store and tried to forcibly take his daughter away, the employee physically blocked him.
The employee explained the situation at the time, saying, "Ms. B's hair was disheveled, and her eyes were very swollen."
Meanwhile, after receiving psychological treatment, Ms. B was moved to a protective facility in another region to recover and stabilize.
