[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] KT will participate in the Mobile World Congress (MWC), a mobile communications exhibition held in Barcelona, Spain, from the 28th to March 3rd (local time) for the first time in three years. At MWC 2022, KT plans to showcase artificial intelligence (AI) and robot services targeting the digital transformation (DX) era accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

KT announced on the 20th that it will open an exhibition hall at MWC 2022. The KT exhibition hall, themed "The Engine of Digital Innovation, DIGICO KT," is designed so that the ground (exhibition floor) and the sky (ceiling) face each other along the main road. This allows visitors to intuitively feel the digital innovation era where the boundaries of time and space are breaking down.

KT participated in MWC 2022 as part of the Industry City, a joint pavilion of the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA). The KT exhibition hall located in Industry City is divided into three zones: AI, robots, and KT Group & partners.

In the AI zone, visitors can experience six different technologies and services. These include 'Traffic Digital Twin,' a technology that analyzes traffic flow using twin and AI to derive optimal signals; 'Hybrid 5G MEC Platform,' which analyzes CCTV footage based on mobile edge computing (MEC); 'Real Dance,' which compares and analyzes users' dance movements with AI; 'Dr. WAIS,' a technology that monitors 5G base stations and stations using AI; and 'AI National Quantum Initiative (NQI),' which analyzes wireless quality based on AI. Notably, KT will present the technology and application cases of its AI Contact Center (AICC), which has been well received since its domestic launch in the second half of last year, on the global stage.

In the robot zone, various technologies centered on quarantine robots will be showcased. KT will demonstrate technologies related to the 'AI Quarantine Robot,' unveiled for the first time at this MWC, and plans to enable quarantine robots to detect poor indoor air quality in real time and improve it into a clean space in collaboration with 'AirMap Korea.'

KT will introduce 'Giga WiFi Home 6E,' which provides an indoor robot communication environment supporting 6GHz frequency Wi-Fi, and the next-generation integrated terminal 'S-Box (tentative name),' which combines home AP, Android TV-based set-top box, and AI Giga Genie into one. Additionally, KT will present 'Giga Atto,' which ensures seamless communication between robots and servers; 'AIoT Electric Wheelchair,' which supports location tracking, emergency calls, and automatic assisted driving; and '5G IoT Router,' which converts 5G signals into Wi-Fi signals in emergency vehicles or buses to provide a smooth communication environment.

In the KT Group & Partner zone, visitors can experience 'A.UX Alive,' a next-generation user environment by KT group company Altimedia that makes it easy to use Android OS-based Internet TV (IPTV) and over-the-top (OTT) services. KT provided opportunities for small and medium-sized partners to participate in MWC. IdeaLink showcased 'Smart Golf AI Coaching' technology applied to IPTV, and Coasoft presented '3D Digital Twin Production' technology based on the metaverse. Separate marketing spaces were also prepared for these companies.

KT has also prepared programs for visitors who cannot attend in person. The metaverse exhibition hall 'DIGICO Land' allows people to view KT's exhibition at MWC 2022 from the comfort of their homes. To make the metaverse experience more engaging, various participation programs are offered to provide an enjoyable exhibition in virtual reality. At the Barcelona site, an 'AI Audio Platform' that explains exhibits with AI voice guides has been introduced to help visitors better understand the displays.

Yang Yul-mo, Executive Vice President of KT, said, "Since declaring our transformation into a digital platform company (DIGICO) in 2020, KT has made multifaceted efforts to accelerate the digital innovation era. This MWC will be an opportunity to preview the future of digital innovation that KT will create, centered on AI and robot technologies and services."
