G2 Power, which is on the verge of entering the KOSDAQ in March, has developed three products?distribution panels, energy storage systems (ESS), and solar power generation devices?based on its proven technology over many years, and has obtained certification as excellent products for public procurement. In the case of distribution panels, following the excellent product certification for procurement, it also received certifications for New Excellent Technology (NET), New Excellent Product (NEP), and innovative products, demonstrating a clear presence in the procurement market.
Additionally, the company announced plans to expand into new business areas by digitally transforming (DX) its Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart grid condition monitoring and diagnostic technology products.
As a new business in the smart grid sector, G2 Power is developing eco-friendly insulating switches and eco-friendly gas-insulated switchgear (GIS). After testing and certification, they plan to actively launch new products. Furthermore, to preventively diagnose the safety of SOC facilities such as power equipment, bridges, rivers, manholes, buildings, and SOC structures, they are developing and planning to release intelligent distributed acoustic sensing systems (DAS), distributed temperature sensing (DTS), and fiber Bragg grating (FBG) for measuring temperature, vibration, and displacement. In addition, in response to the era of electric vehicles, they plan to launch an electric charging system capable of slow, fast, and ultra-fast charging early next year.
All product lines to be launched in the future will incorporate in-house IoT, artificial intelligence (AI), and edge computing technologies through ongoing research and development. These IoT, AI, and edge computing technologies are expected to provide effects such as ▶ AI algorithm analysis and diagnosis ▶ prediction of distribution panel health and remaining life ▶ securing safety through preventive equipment diagnosis. They anticipate expanding product supply in the smart grid and SOC structure diagnostic markets.
Kim Young-il, CEO of G2 Power, stated, “Distribution panels, ESS, solar power generation devices, and electric vehicle charging devices (V2G) are key core facilities forming one axis of the smart grid. We will actively respond to market demands arising from the 4th Industrial Revolution and carbon neutrality policies by converging AI, IoT, and CMD technologies.” He added, “Through our proprietary DX solutions, we plan to build a smart grid platform and expand business areas such as demand response (DR) and virtual power plants (VPP).”
Two years ago, they planned to establish a condition monitoring and diagnostic (CMD) solution through a power equipment system at POSCO’s Nanjing plant in China, but the project was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, they are preparing to resume the project in consultation with POSCO’s Nanjing plant.
They are also promoting solar power projects in Barbados and Chile to target the Latin American market.
