Unmanned Surveillance Cameras Operated Near Gokseong-eup Jungang Elementary, Okgwa Elementary, and Okgwa Terminal
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jongseon] Gokseong-gun, Jeonnam announced that starting from June, it will conduct illegal parking enforcement using unmanned surveillance cameras near the back gate of Jungang Elementary School in Gokseong-eup, Okwa Elementary School, and Okwa Terminal.
Currently, Gokseong-gun has completed the installation of unmanned surveillance cameras at the three target locations. The enforcement program will be set up in February, and a promotion and guidance period will be operated until the end of May.
The enforcement targets vehicles parked for more than 10 minutes at intersections, fire hydrants, crosswalks, and children protection zones. Enforcement will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and during the guidance period, no fines will be imposed, but guidance notices will be issued.
After the guidance period ends, starting June 1, fines of 120,000 KRW in children protection zones, 80,000 KRW in fire hydrant protection zones, and 40,000 KRW in other areas will be imposed.
Gokseong-gun plans to continuously promote not parking in front of stores and not parking in no-parking zones to eradicate illegal parking. Additionally, pillar-type guide signs will be installed in illegal parking enforcement areas to inform residents about the enforcement.
Meanwhile, recently, Gokseong-gun has been strengthening illegal parking enforcement to prevent traffic accidents and ensure smooth road flow.
A county official said, “It may be a little inconvenient, but the social benefits gained by not engaging in illegal parking far outweigh the personal convenience caused by illegal parking. We especially ask residents to consider that illegal parking could threaten someone’s life.”
