2351 Units Scheduled for Distribution This Year
Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, will begin accepting applications for electric vehicle purchase subsidies starting on the 18th.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, will implement a purchase subsidy support project starting from the 18th to promote the private distribution of electric vehicles.
Following 1,912 units last year, this year they plan to support a total of 2,351 electric vehicles, including 1,700 passenger cars, 400 cargo trucks, 51 buses, and 200 two-wheelers.
This month, they will release 195 passenger cars, 50 cargo trucks, and 14 buses to accept the first round of applications, and after the application deadline, they will sequentially distribute 1,505 passenger cars, 350 cargo trucks, 37 buses, and 200 two-wheelers.
Individuals aged 18 or older with an address in Changwon City for more than three months as of the purchase support application date, corporations, regional public institutions excluding central administrative agencies, and local public enterprises can apply for the subsidy.
For subsidy applicants, there is no need to visit administrative agencies separately, as the manufacturer and seller will handle the subsidy application and related claim procedures on their behalf.
This year’s purchase subsidy amounts are up to 13 million KRW for general passenger electric vehicles, up to 20 million KRW for small cargo electric vehicles, up to 15 million KRW for general passenger electric taxis, and a fixed 7 million KRW for ultra-small electric vehicles.
Subsidies paid to corporations and institutions have been reduced by half in local government funds compared to individuals. A 100% subsidy is provided for vehicles priced at 55 million KRW or less, a proportional subsidy for amounts between 55 million KRW and 85 million KRW, and no subsidy for vehicles exceeding 85 million KRW. The vehicle selection method based on delivery and registration order has also been changed.
Among the allocated quantity, 10% priority is given to vulnerable groups, families with multiple children, first-time vehicle buyers, and those purchasing electric vehicles after scrapping old diesel vehicles, which have a high effect on fine dust improvement. Additionally, an extra 2 million KRW national subsidy will be provided for electric taxis.
The application period is from the 18th until December 9, and the project will end when the budget is exhausted. The number of vehicles distributed may vary slightly depending on the differential subsidy support.
