JVM's Fully Automated Drug Management System 'Intipharm' for Operating Rooms
[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] JVM, a subsidiary of Hanmi Science, is enhancing its competitiveness by equipping its fully automated drug management system 'Intipham' with Codonics' international pharmaceutical standard label management solution 'SLS (Safe Label System)' from the United States.
JVM announced on the 10th that it has signed a partnership agreement with Codonics in the U.S. to enable the integration of SLS into Intipham.
Intipham, launched in 2020, is JVM's pharmaceutical storage and management equipment. It is linked with hospital information systems to implement a 'closed-loop system' within hospitals and is a solution that can efficiently manage and track high-risk drugs frequently used in operating rooms. In addition to operating rooms, it is equipped with solutions that can be used wherever needed in hospitals, such as treatment preparation rooms, ward pharmacies, and intensive care units.
SLS is Codonics' flagship solution, approved as a medical device (Class-2) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and is the only system worldwide that complies with the American Society of Anesthesiologists' drug labeling guidelines. It allows visual and auditory verification based on barcode recognition technology to confirm that the dispensed drugs during the medication preparation process match the prescription. This has been evaluated to significantly reduce problems frequently occurring in operating rooms, such as vial and ampoule misdispensing, labeling errors, and syringe swaps during preparation.
Through this partnership, medical institutions wishing to purchase Intipham will be able to choose whether to equip it with SLS at the time of purchase. JVM expects that this will greatly enhance Intipham's export competitiveness in hospital tenders in overseas countries such as North America, Australia, and the Middle East, where SLS is already in use.
A JVM official said, "With the integration of SLS, we can accelerate the ultimate goal of both companies to optimize drug safety management," adding, "Through synergy between the two companies, we expect to provide higher work efficiency to healthcare professionals in more countries and ensure safe medication for patients."
