Girlfriend Murder Planned, Weapon Purchased

[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Jo Hyun-jin (27), who brutally murdered his ex-girlfriend after she broke up with him, has been indicted in custody.
On the 9th, the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office's Women's Violent Economic Crime Division announced that Jo Hyun-jin was indicted on charges of murder. After receiving the case from the police on the 21st of last month, the prosecution conducted additional investigations, searches, and integrated psychological analyses on Jo Hyun-jin.
Jo Hyun-jin is accused of visiting the home of his girlfriend, Ms. A, who lives in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, around 9:40 p.m. on the 12th of last month, wielding a weapon to kill her and then fleeing the scene.
At the time of the incident, Ms. A's mother was also at home. Jo Hyun-jin took Ms. A into the bathroom, saying he wanted to talk to her alone, and then committed the crime.
The Chungnam Provincial Police Agency held a personal information disclosure review committee on the 19th of last month and decided to release Jo Hyun-jin's name, age, and photo.
During police questioning, Jo Hyun-jin initially stated that he purchased the weapon because he wanted to hold onto Ms. A, but during the prosecution's investigation, he reversed his statement, saying he bought the weapon with the intention to kill Ms. A after being told of the breakup.
He said in the prosecution's investigation, "After receiving the breakup notice, I decided to kill Ms. A out of resentment and hatred and purchased the weapon."
Meanwhile, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's integrated psychological analysis confirmed that Jo Hyun-jin exhibited strong psychopathic tendencies accompanied by antisocial personality disorder (commonly known as psychopathy). A prosecution official stated, "It appears that the antisocial personality disorder influenced the crime."
