[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The nostalgic cartoon 'Meoteoldosa' is being reborn as a movie and drama.

On the 9th, Megabox Joongang Corp. Plus M and Dexter Studio announced, "The two companies signed a strategic business agreement last January and decided to produce 'Meoteoldosa' by cartoonist Lee Doo-ho as a movie and drama for their first project."

'Meoteoldosa' was published as a cartoon and produced as a TV animation in 1989, aired on MBC, and gained popularity with a viewership rating of 54.9%. The live-action version plans to be completed as a Korean-style hero story based on the original work, showcasing the exploits of Meoteol and Nudeokdosa.

Megabox Joongang Corp. Plus M will handle movie investment, distribution, and joint drama production, while Dexter Studio will be in charge of the main production of the drama as well as the overall post-production work of the movie and drama, including VFX, DI (color grading), and sound correction.

Kim Wook and Kang Jong-ik, representatives of Dexter Studio, said, "We plan to create a hero story that offers more fun and emotion than the original by expanding the solid story and worldview of 'Meoteoldosa,' which has been loved by various age groups for a long time, and adding our company's unique technology."
