KT Skylife Launches 'My Asia TV' Targeting Domestic Asian Viewers

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] KT Skylife announced on the 8th that it has launched the ‘My Asia TVV (My Asia TV)’ service, which allows real-time viewing of local broadcasts from Vietnam, Thailand, and Mongolia.

Skylife provides this broadcast in the form of a TV application (app) for Asian foreigners residing in Korea to watch real-time broadcasts in their native languages. Currently, it offers 7 channels from Vietnam, 4 channels from Mongolia, and 1 channel from Thailand, and plans to add ▲Uzbekistan ▲Kazakhstan ▲Indonesia ▲Cambodia ▲Nepal ▲Philippines ▲China by the end of the year.

Skylife customers can access the service by entering channel number 799 or through the TV app in the home menu. By scanning the QR code on the TV screen with a mobile device, users can easily sign up, and even just signing up allows free viewing of 2 Vietnamese channels, 4 Mongolian channels, and 1 Thai channel. Purchasing a subscription costs 2,200 KRW for 1 month or 22,000 KRW for 12 months, granting access to all channels.

To celebrate the new launch, a subscription event is underway offering additional benefits. When purchasing a 1-month subscription, the first month is free, and when purchasing a 12-month subscription, 2 months are provided free of charge.

The company explained that it has established a foundation to secure a potential customer base of approximately 1.9 million Asian foreigners residing in Korea. Asian foreigners who miss their homeland can enjoy news and content from their home countries in real time. In particular, children in Asian multicultural families can experience the language and culture corresponding to their parents’ nationality.

Kim Cheolsu, CEO of KT Skylife, said, "We are glad that the launch of My Asia TV can somewhat ease the homesickness of Asian foreigners." He added, "We will continue to expand open TV services and provide satisfying content from the customer’s perspective."
