[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 8th that it will select representative restaurants in the region to attract tourists and enhance the brand value of Mi-hyang (flavor and fragrance) Jeongeup until the 21st.
The application targets are general and rest restaurants and bakeries that have been operating for more than one year after registering a business in Jeongeup City.
However, businesses that have received administrative sanctions such as business suspension within the last two years, chain-operated stores, convenience stores, and rest restaurants inside PC rooms are excluded.
Applications are accepted until the 21st, and applicants can submit the restaurant designation application form by visiting the Public Health Center Food Hygiene Team or via mail or email.
The city plans to comprehensively evaluate the taste of food, hygiene, environment, and service through a first document screening and a second on-site visit for the received businesses to select the restaurants.
Selected businesses will receive a designation certificate, restaurant signboard attachment, priority support for facility improvement fund loans from the Food Promotion Fund, and promotional benefits through the city website bulletin board.
Support measures such as benchmarking advanced excellent businesses through food culture activation consignment education, environment improvement, table setting photography, and hygiene supplies will also follow.
The results of the Jeongeup restaurant selection will be announced on the city website in April.
A city official said, “By selecting and fostering representative restaurants of Jeongeup, we will provide safe and delicious food to citizens and tourists,” adding, “It is expected to greatly help food tourism projects and regional economic revitalization.”
Meanwhile, the city has been discovering and selecting Jeongeup restaurants every three years since 2016.
Also, existing restaurants have been re-designated through re-examination, and a total of 20 restaurants have been designated so far.
