[Olympics] Park Jang-hyeok's Left Hand Torn, Eleven Stitches Sewn

Park Jang-hyeok (Sports Toto), who was injured in the men's 1000m short track quarterfinals at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, received emergency treatment and returned. His left hand was torn and required eleven stitches.

On the 7th, at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, China, during the men's 1000m short track quarterfinal heat 1 race at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Park collided with Italy's Pietro Sighel, who aggressively cut into the inside lane with three laps remaining to the finish line. Losing his balance, Park fell and then collided again with China's Wu Dajing who was following behind. Park tried to get up and continue the race but sat down clutching his left hand in pain. The referees called medical staff, and he was soon carried off the rink on a stretcher.

Park advanced to the semifinals by referee's decision but was unable to appear at the starting line due to continuous bleeding from his torn left hand. He ultimately received emergency treatment at a hospital near the athletes' village and had eleven stitches. There appears to be no issue with his participation in upcoming events such as the men's 1500m on the 9th. It is reported that Park has expressed his intention to compete in the remaining races.
