[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] In Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, the police have launched an investigation after multiple reports were received of a man walking naked on the streets wearing only a black mask.
According to the police on the 7th, around 12:50 a.m. on the 4th, a resident discovered a man walking naked near a construction site in Sincheon-dong, Siheung City, and reported it to 112.
The police confirmed through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage that the man was walking naked on the street wearing only a black mask before disappearing from the camera's view.
The police are continuing their investigation and tracking efforts using nearby CCTV footage to identify the man. However, no reports have been received so far indicating that the man committed a sexual crime.
A police official stated, "Once the man's identity is confirmed, he will be booked on charges of public indecency, and a thorough investigation into the motive and exact circumstances will be conducted."
Meanwhile, a similar incident was reported near the site last month. At that time, the police booked a teenage boy, identified as A, on charges of public indecency without detention.
On the afternoon of the 24th of last month, A was caught by police after being reported for performing obscene acts in front of female students while wearing a trench coat on the stairs of an academy building near the construction site.
A is over 14 years old and therefore subject to criminal punishment, as he is not classified as a juvenile offender (a minor aged 10 or older but under 14 who is exempt from criminal prosecution).
