Korean Female Alpine Skiing Winter Olympics Best Ranking Tied Record
Kim So-hee (High1), who joined the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics late, upheld the pride of Korean alpine skiing. On the 7th, at the Women's Alpine Giant Slalom event held at the National Alpine Ski Center in Yanqing, Beijing, China, she recorded a combined time of 2 minutes 07 seconds 22 in the first and second runs. Among the eighty-two competitors, she placed 33rd. Although she failed to reach her initial goal of entering the top 30, she achieved a mid-ranking result on a course where world-class athletes such as Mikaela Shiffrin (USA), Tessa Worley (France), and Marta Bassino (Italy) did not finish.
The 33rd place ties the highest ranking ever achieved by a Korean female alpine skier at the Winter Olympics. She matched the record set by Oh Jae-eun, who placed 33rd at the 2006 Torino Games. Kim So-hee missed the Olympic ticket by placing second in last month's Olympic representative selection, but was later confirmed to go to Beijing due to a vacancy among the Olympic participants in this event. Kim So-hee will compete in the slalom event on the 9th alongside Kang Young-seo (Busan City Sports Council).
