"I Want to Be an Honest President... Will Communicate Well with Citizens and Aides and Strive to Discover Talent"

[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, revealed on the 7th that his childhood dream was to become a pastor.
On this day, the People Power Party's Election Countermeasures Headquarters' Regime Change Accompaniment Committee uploaded six videos themed "Human Yoon Seok-yeol" on their official YouTube channel.
In the video, regarding his childhood dream, Candidate Yoon said, "My very first dream was to become a pastor. I lived in Bomun-dong, and I attended a Christian kindergarten called YMCA Children's Center located near Jongno 2-ga." He added, "I went to Daekwang Elementary School, which was run by the Youngnak Church Foundation. During my kindergarten and elementary school years, I was deeply immersed under the influence of Christianity."
He continued, "During Easter and Christmas, we prepared various plays and events, and in the summer, I attended Bible school. Because of that, my childhood dream during elementary school was to become a pastor."
Regarding a question about young people saying he seems like a 'kkondae' (an old-fashioned authoritarian), he said, "I think 'kkondae' refers to an attitude of constantly trying to teach others. I don't think I am a kkondae, but if I appeared that way to you, there's nothing I can do." He added, "I will do my best to fix the (kkondae image) somehow, but all I can ask is for your understanding."
About the authoritarian image, he said, "I don't particularly like authoritarianism," but added, "However, I may appear that way to young people. Since I am a former Prosecutor General, that profession itself tends to create preconceived notions, and 26 years of working as a prosecutor have become ingrained in me. It seems difficult to easily shed that image despite efforts."
He went on, "If there are mistakes regarding power, from the people's perspective, there must be firm accountability. I say this because I am a liberal. If I were an authoritarian, I would give a premium to power. But I do not give a premium to power," he added.
Meanwhile, when asked what kind of president he wants to be, Candidate Yoon answered, "I want to be an honest president." He said, "I want to be a president who communicates well with the people, communicates well with parliamentary leaders, communicates well with the media, and communicates well with the cabinet and aides I work with."
He also emphasized, "There cannot be an honest politician who does not communicate well. I will establish a system that widely appoints talented people and truly strive to discover talent." He added, "Like a highly competitive headhunter company, we must widely discover talent and give many people opportunities. Only then can a competent government be formed."
