Naver Whalebook Expands Application Areas... Enhances Security and Management Features

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver's 'Whalebook' is expanding its range of applications based on high security and ease of management.

According to Naver on the 4th, it recently signed a business agreement with KMA Korea Management Association and NSDevil to advance technology so that Whalebook can also be utilized in educational evaluation environments. While Whalebook has so far focused on the 'learning' phase during the educational process, it will now provide more suitable usability in the 'evaluation' phase as well.

The strengths of Whalebook lie in its security and ease of management. Based on this, it is gaining positive responses in environments that require providing a consistent user experience to many users, such as educational sites or qualification evaluation institutions. Currently, schools aiming to create an edutech-based educational environment, such as 'Daejeon Imun High School,' are using Whalebook.

Unlike general PCs that store and run installed software on hard disks, Whalebook, a web-based device, operates by calling services from the internet. Naver provides services that are organically compatible with Whalebook on the 'Whale Space Platform,' where the 'Whale Browser' serves as the framework for implementing the platform and web services.

Naver is also advancing the security features of the Whale Browser. Based on data accumulated from phishing and security attacks while conducting business domestically and internationally, Naver has created its own response model.

In particular, for phishing response, it utilizes the 'Whale Safe Browsing' engine and the 'Whale Client-Side Detection' engine to prevent users from being exposed to phishing pages. The two engines respectively block phishing sites based on accumulated databases and determine phishing by analyzing the characteristics of the sites themselves.

Additionally, when one administrator needs to manage multiple Whalebooks, the convenience features for administrators will be maximized by allowing batch configuration of multiple Whalebook environments from the administrator page.

Kim Juhyung, Naver Whale Leader, said, "Naver Whalebook is receiving high acclaim in environments where security and manageability are important, providing convenient usability," and added, "We will do our best to customize and provide optimal usability by adjusting functions according to the situation of the adopters."
