[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Chugye University for the Arts and JS Global have joined hands to train ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) experts.
According to Chugye University for the Arts and JS Global on the 3rd, both parties held a signing ceremony and launch event on the 28th of last month at the Chugye University Creative Hall located in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, to establish the "ESG Audit Expert Training Course."
Hosted by Chugye University for the Arts and organized by JS Global, this course is designed to provide both theoretical and practical experience covering non-financial factors such as Environment, Social, and Governance concepts and trends, supply chain ESG management, ESG reporting and disclosure, and ESG evaluation.
In particular, instead of focusing solely on the traditional ESG concepts, the curriculum includes laws related to permits and approvals in each ESG area, international certifications such as those from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and domestic and international ESG external evaluation methodologies and response processes, including the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), and the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS).
Current and former ESG field practitioners and ESG consultants participate as instructors, providing education and practical training centered on vivid corporate case studies about difficulties, limitations, application, and improvement directions encountered when companies or institutions implement ESG.
Outstanding trainees will be given opportunities to visit small and medium-sized enterprises after completing the course to practice ESG audits, allowing them to acquire hands-on experience.
The training course targets ESG practitioners from small and medium-sized enterprises, large corporations, and public institutions, ESG-related certification auditors, and university students aspiring to work in ESG roles. Upon completion, it facilitates entry into various fields such as ESG practitioners in companies and institutions adopting ESG, ESG consultants, ESG certification auditors, NGO practitioners, and ESG evaluators and assessors.
Im Sang-hyuk, President of Chugye University for the Arts, stated, "We will continuously operate educational programs to cultivate ESG experts equipped with the professionalism required in the field," adding, "Through this, we will prepare to serve as a foundation for the sustainable growth of the national industry."
