[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Samsung Electronics has mandated five major safety regulations, including a ban on using mobile phones while walking, in response to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act that took effect on the 27th of last month.

According to the industry on the 2nd, Samsung Electronics is officially enforcing the "Five Major Safety Regulations for Creating a Safe Workplace," which include: prohibition of mobile phone use while walking, prohibition of jaywalking, prohibition of mobile phone use while driving, prohibition of speeding while driving and compliance with in-house speed limits, and wearing helmets while riding bicycles. Samsung Electronics' DX (Device Experience) division recently posted these five safety regulations on the company bulletin board.

Since 2016, Samsung Electronics has recommended refraining from using mobile phones while walking within the company, but with the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, this has now been strengthened into a mandatory regulation. The intention is interpreted as thoroughly practicing basic safety rules to prevent safety accidents.

The five safety regulations apply not only to Samsung employees but also to visitors to the workplace. Visitors who violate the safety regulations may face access restrictions for a certain period.
