[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A man in his 30s who sent photos of his girlfriend's body to her father and demanded money was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
On the 2nd, Judge Shim Woo-seung of the Criminal Division 5 at the Busan District Court East Branch sentenced A, a man in his 30s, who was charged with violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes and attempted extortion, to two years in prison with a three-year suspension.
He was also ordered to attend 40 hours of sexual violence treatment lectures and was banned from employment at child and youth-related institutions and welfare facilities for the disabled for three years.
A was prosecuted for sending photos of his then-girlfriend's body along with a bank account number to her father via mobile phone last September and then demanding money.
The court stated, "The act of sending photos to the victim's father and demanding money is of very poor nature," but added, "However, considering his remorse for the crime, the settlement with the victims, and other circumstances, the sentence was determined."
