Kim Jong-in's close aide Seong Il-jong tells Democratic Party's love call "Don't waste your efforts"

[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] Rep. Seong Il-jong of the People Power Party sharply criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, which was revealed to have sought help from former emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in, telling them to "stop wasting effort."

Rep. Seong, a close aide to former chairman Kim, currently serves as the head of the TV debate working negotiation team at the People Power Party's election headquarters. On the 2nd, Rep. Seong posted on his Facebook titled "Democratic Party, stop wasting effort."

Rep. Seong said, "Former chairman Kim is a giant with principles," adding, "He has worked solely for the country and the people, crossing party lines." He continued, "When the balance between the ruling and opposition parties was broken, he revived the fallen side to restore the nation's balance," and criticized, "Asking him to help a candidate from the original 'double standards' party is to disgrace former chairman Kim."

Rep. Seong also raised his voice in criticism again, saying, "Look at the candidate's qualifications. Can he be helped?" and "Stop wasting effort." This appears to be aimed at remarks made by Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who on the 31st of last month said on a broadcast that he met former chairman Kim and "asked for help for the country," and questioned, "Would Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, have the mindset to accept former chairman Kim's philosophy and policies?"

According to Leader Song, former chairman Kim reportedly said at the time, "If Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, wants to meet, I don't see a reason to refuse as a private individual." Candidate Lee also responded, "He is a respected elder in politics whom I personally admire, so I often contact him," adding, "It would be proper to visit him when the opportunity arises."
