Support for Residents Facing Hardship Due to Cumulative COVID-19 Damage to Stabilize Livelihoods from January to March
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) will provide a total of 3.2 billion KRW in the "2022 Gwangjin-gu Disaster Relief Fund" to residents suffering from accumulated damage caused by COVID-19.
This support was prepared to fill the gaps in government assistance and minimize blind spots in loss compensation, and was additionally arranged by Gwangjin-gu to help stabilize the livelihoods of its residents.
Based on discussions at the Seoul Mayors' Council held on the 21st of last month, Gwangjin-gu has determined the eligible recipients and scope of support, and the relevant departments will proceed with application and support procedures from the end of January through March.
While considering fairness with other autonomous districts, Gwangjin-gu carefully reviewed and selected recipients to ensure no residents are excluded from damage support.
The eligible recipients include ▲closed small business owners (500,000 KRW) ▲unemployed youth (500,000 KRW) ▲corporate and individual taxi drivers (400,000 KRW) ▲freight transport workers with light trucks (under 1 ton) and individual trucks (1?5 tons) (400,000 KRW) ▲village bus companies (10 million KRW) ▲community center instructors (500,000 KRW) ▲religious facilities (500,000 KRW) ▲private kindergartens (1 million KRW) ▲veterans organizations (4 million KRW) ▲comprehensive social welfare centers (4 to 5 million KRW) ▲facilities for the disabled (1 million KRW) ▲self-support enterprises (500,000 to 1 million KRW) ▲Kiwoom Centers (1 million KRW), among others.
Detailed eligibility requirements and support amounts can be found on the Gwangjin-gu official website.
At the end of last year, Gwangjin-gu had already provided disaster relief funds for common support areas in Seoul’s autonomous districts, including elderly care facilities, daycare centers, and local children’s centers.
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “We are providing the Gwangjin-gu Disaster Relief Fund to offer practical help to individuals and businesses severely affected by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to listen closely to voices from the field to minimize blind spots in loss compensation and strive even harder for the recovery of daily life and livelihood stability for many residents.”
