Kim Jong-un Attends Seollal Holiday Celebration Performance Accompanied by Ri Sol-ju

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, attended the Lunar New Year celebration performance at the Mansudae Art Theatre in Pyongyang on the 1st, accompanied by his wife, Ri Sol-ju, the Korean Central News Agency reported on the 2nd. This marks the first official appearance of Ri Sol-ju since her visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on September 9th last year, 145 days ago.

The agency stated, "When Comrade Kim Jong-un appeared in the theater seats with Ri Sol-ju, the entire audience erupted in a storm of cheers of 'manse' (long live)." It also reported that after the performance, General Secretary Kim went on stage with Ri Sol-ju to encourage the performers and took commemorative photos together.

Ri Sol-ju was also seen attending performances with Kim Jong-un earlier in the year, including the 'Kwangmyongsong Festival' celebration performance on February 16th last year, marking Kim Jong-il's birthday, and the Lunar New Year celebration performance on January 25th, 2020.

The performance was also attended by Choe Ryong-hae, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly; Jo Yong-won, Party Organization Secretary; Kim Tok-hun, Premier of the Cabinet; Pak Jong-chon, Party Secretary; and Party Central Committee Secretaries Ri Il-hwan, Jeong Sang-hak, O Su-yong, and Tae Hyong-chol.
