[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is proactively preparing for the rapidly changing educational environment and supporting educational competitiveness by providing 19.9 billion KRW in educational expense subsidies.
The district is leading future education based on its own education support system, Songpa SSEM (Songpa Smart Education Model). In particular, with the goal of "schools where future dreams come true, student-centered educational expense support," it is taking the lead in creating flexible and diverse student-centered educational spaces, smart classrooms, and complex spaces to establish a safe learning environment.
This year, the district secured 19.9 billion KRW in four areas: 6.1 billion KRW for character education support to improve kindergarten and school educational environments and academic achievement; 12.6 billion KRW for eco-friendly meals expanded to kindergartens; 300 million KRW for free education for all high school grades; and 900 million KRW for entrance preparation funds for new students in 1st grade of middle and high school, including 1st grade elementary students.
This is an increase of 1.9 billion KRW compared to the previous year.
Through this, Songpa-gu will also promote its own specialized projects. In the educational environment improvement sector of the educational expenses, 500 million KRW has been allocated to improve disaster safety facilities such as repairing disaster-vulnerable facilities within schools due to floods and climate change, and installing new and additional CCTVs to eliminate safety blind spots.
Additionally, in preparation for online classes that have become routine due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, 400 million KRW has been allocated to operate specialized 4th industrial revolution classrooms to help close the educational gap. Plans include replacing outdated computer equipment and supporting the establishment of filming studios equipped with mobile cameras and microphones to utilize AI education, software education, and digital textbooks.
Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, "We aim to proactively prepare for nurturing future talents and improving the educational environment through educational expense subsidies," and added, "Based on Songpa SSEM and Songpa's solid future education foundation, we will do our best to strengthen universal student-centered educational welfare so that everyone can enjoy education without exclusion."
