[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] Amid the additional release of the so-called '7-hour call' transcript of Kim Geon-hee, wife of People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, by a YouTuber, it has been reported that Kim asked not to report the contents of the call.
On the 29th, a video titled "Kim Geon-hee - Seoul's Voice Unreleased Transcript Disclosure" was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Backbriefing.' In the video, the channel operator Baek Gwang-hyun explained, "MBC's Straight, YouTube's Open Sympathy TV, and others have released conversations between Kim and Seoul's Voice reporter Lee Myung-soo, but I also obtained the full conversation transcript," and said, "I will disclose part of it."
According to the transcript released by Baek, Kim asked Lee not to report the contents of their call. Kim said, "I will end today's call thinking of it as a personal connection between you, the reporter, and me," and added, "Do not let it be reported." When Kim said, "Let's see how well you keep your promise," Lee replied, "I am that man." When Kim said, "That's cool," Lee reassured her by saying, "Don't worry."
Additionally, the transcript released by Baek includes Kim asking, "Did you tell (candidate Yoon) about talking with me?" to which Lee replied, "No." When Lee asked about Yoon's personality, Kim said, "He is very innocent, and he cries every time he watches a movie," adding, "(Candidate Yoon) watched a movie about former President Roh Moo-hyun and cried alone for two hours," and "My husband really likes former President Roh."
Furthermore, Kim described broadcaster Kim Eo-jun as an "influential broadcaster" and "more of a businessman than a political faction," but also added, "Justice changes with each era. You have to side with justice, not just because I am progressive, I only side with the progressive side," and "That is a business, not justice." In response, Baek said, "I have no intention of praising Kim," but added, "I want to applaud the part where she said we must move beyond factional logic. It is very true."
