[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will provide disaster relief funds totaling 43.5 million KRW to elderly welfare facilities that have suffered operational damage due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the second time Seongbuk-gu has provided disaster relief funds to elderly welfare facilities, following last year.

The support amount is 1 million KRW each for elderly nursing facilities and day and night care facilities, and 500,000 KRW for elderly nursing group homes. The funds are expected to be used for quarantine-related expenses.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the spread of the Omicron variant, the operation of elderly welfare facilities is extremely difficult. We are very grateful for the thorough quarantine efforts being made to ensure the safety of the elderly and everyone, and we hope everyone will unite their hearts until the day COVID-19 ends.”
