[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] This year, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have set a sales target of 7.47 million units, with various new models expected to be launched. Domestically, a variety of models such as Hyundai's electric vehicle Ioniq 6 and Kia's sports utility vehicle (SUV) Seltos facelift are anticipated to appear.


According to the completed car industry on the 2nd, Hyundai Motor Group's premium brand Genesis plans to introduce an electrified version of the mid-size SUV 'GV70' in the first half of this year. The GV70 electrified model is a derivative electric vehicle of the GV70.


Along with this, Hyundai will unveil the mid-size electric sedan 'Ioniq 6' in the second half of this year. This vehicle is the production version of the concept car Prophecy, which was revealed in March last year. Additionally, a full-change model of the Grandeur is also scheduled for sale in the second half. The Grandeur is a representative model that sells more than 100,000 units annually.


Overseas, the product lineup will mainly expand with electric vehicle models. Seokang Hyun, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Company, explained during a conference call on the 25th of last month, "We will sequentially launch the GV60, G80 EV, and GV70 EV in major global markets such as the United States, Western Europe, and China to strengthen our electric vehicle lineup," and added, "From the second half of the year, we will locally produce the Santa Fe Hybrid at the U.S. plant to meet the increasing hybrid demand in the U.S. and plan to expand supply."

In Kia's case, the second-generation full-change model, the compact SUV 'The All-New Kia Niro' (new Niro), was already unveiled last month. The currently sold new Niro is a hybrid (HEV) model. It is equipped with a 'Smartstream G1.6 Hybrid' engine and a 32 kW motor. The fuel efficiency achieves a combined mileage of 20.8 km/L. The Niro EV (electric vehicle) is expected to be released within the first half of this year.


Additionally, the high-performance version of the EV6 electric vehicle, the EV6 GT model, is also scheduled to be introduced in the second half of this year. Furthermore, facelift models of the 'K5', SUV 'Seltos', and 'Ray' are being prepared.


Meanwhile, Hyundai has set its global completed car sales target for this year at 4.323 million units, with 732,000 units domestically and 3.591 million units overseas. The eco-friendly vehicle sales target is set at 564,000 units. Kia's sales target for this year is 3.15 million units, a 13.5% increase compared to last year's performance, with 562,000 units domestically and 2.588 million units overseas.
