University of Utah Asia Campus Wins 'Brand Award'... Increase in Student Numbers and Introduction of Medical Innovation Center

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The University of Utah Asia Campus announced on the 30th that it has won the Grand Prize in the Overseas Educational Institutions category at the '2022 Most Trusted Brand Awards by Consumers.'

Despite COVID-19, the University of Utah Asia Campus saw a 70% increase in the number of students enrolled in the fall semester of 2021 compared to the previous year, and was highly evaluated for becoming an international educational institution, with 20% of all new students coming from eight countries including the United States, China, Russia, Australia, and Brazil.

In October last year, the University of Utah Asia Campus introduced the University of Utah Center for Medical Innovation (CMI), which was ranked first in service quality among U.S. university medical centers. CMI Asia provides education for bio startup entrepreneurship and supports U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for overseas market entry.

The University of Utah also boasts outstanding alumni, including director Lee Isaac Chung of the film "Minari," which won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, J. Willard Marriott, founder of Marriott International, Pixar co-founder Edwin Catmull, and Adobe co-founder John Warnock.

Gregory Hill, president of the University of Utah Asia Campus, said, "We are very honored by this award, which reflects the efforts of our faculty and staff who have done their best to provide students with the best American public university education," adding, "We will introduce more diverse majors and actively participate in the local community going forward."

The University of Utah Asia Campus is an extension campus of the University of Utah, a research-focused university with a 170-year history ranked among the top 100 globally (according to QS World University Rankings), and has been operating since its opening in 2014 in Songdo International City, Incheon.
