[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On the second day of the Lunar New Year holiday and Sunday, the 30th, morning temperatures will remain below freezing in most parts of the country, making it cold.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the central region will be mostly clear on the 30th, while the southern region will have occasional clouds. Morning low temperatures are forecasted to be between -13 and -1 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs between 2 and 9 degrees Celsius.

Morning low temperatures by region are Seoul -7°C, Chuncheon -12°C, Incheon -6°C, Suwon -8°C, Gangneung -3°C, Cheongju -7°C, Andong -9°C, Daejeon -8°C, Jeonju -5°C, Hongseong -8°C, Gwangju -4°C, Daegu -5°C, Pohang -3°C, Ulsan -2°C, Busan -1°C, Changwon -3°C, Mokpo -3°C, Yeosu -1°C, and Jeju 3°C.

The Korea Meteorological Administration explained, "Morning temperatures will remain below freezing for the time being, and in areas under cold wave warnings such as northern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous Gangwon, northern Chungbuk, and northern Gyeongbuk, morning temperatures will be very cold at below -10°C. Please take care of your health against the cold."

Fine dust levels will range from 'Good' to 'Moderate' across all regions.

The air will be very dry mainly in Gangwon Yeongdong, Jeollanam-do, and the Gyeongsang region, so caution is advised to prevent fires.

From the 30th, strong winds and very high waves of 2 to 4 meters will occur in the southern offshore areas of Jeju Island, so vessels engaged in navigation or fishing should exercise special caution.

Wave heights in coastal waters are expected to be 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the South Sea. In the outer offshore waters, wave heights are forecasted to be 1.0 to 2.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the South Sea.

Starting Monday evening, the 31st, snow will fall from the central west coast due to the influence of a low-pressure trough. From night, it will expand to other central regions (excluding the eastern coast of Gangwon), Jeonbuk, and northern Jeonnam. Jeonbuk and northern Jeonnam will experience rain or snow.
