Selection of Construction Company for Daegu Bongdeok1-dong Uri Housing Redevelopment Project Worth 302.4 Billion KRW on the 28th
First Urban Maintenance Project Contract This Year "Aiming to Break Maximum Performance Record Again"
Hyundai Engineering & Construction has resumed its urban renewal project winning streak this year by securing the Woori Housing Redevelopment Project in Bongdeok 1-dong, Daegu. Hyundai Engineering & Construction achieved its highest-ever performance since its founding last year, exceeding KRW 5.5 trillion, and became the first company in the urban renewal industry to rank first for three consecutive years.
According to industry sources on the 29th, the Woori Housing Redevelopment Project Association in Bongdeok 1-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu, held an extraordinary general meeting on the 28th to select a construction company. A vote was conducted among association members on Hyundai Engineering & Construction’s sole bid as the preferred negotiation candidate, resulting in 214 votes in favor out of 237 (a 90.3% approval rate), finalizing Hyundai Engineering & Construction as the construction company.
The Bongdeok 1-dong Woori Housing Redevelopment Project covers an area of 44,054m² at 23 Bongdeok-ro 25-gil (Bongdeok-dong 976-2), Nam-gu, Daegu. The project involves constructing 12 apartment buildings with 1,107 households, consisting of three basement floors and 35 above-ground floors, along with auxiliary facilities.
Nam-gu, Daegu, is an original downtown area with excellent living infrastructure such as transportation, education, and business. Recently, urban renewal projects have been promoted throughout the area, transforming it into an emerging residential town. Bongdeok 1-dong offers access to Sincheon-daero and Daegu Subway Line 1’s Yeongdae Hospital Station, and nearby schools such as Daebong Elementary School, Daegu Middle School, and Hyupsung High School are within walking distance, providing an excellent educational environment. Additionally, the proximity to Apsan Park, Sincheon Riverside Park, and Suseong Lake offers a pleasant natural environment, making it an excellent location.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction proposed the name "HILLSTATE REGIA FORE" for the complex, inspired by the Latin words Regia, meaning palace, and Forestis, meaning forest. The plan is to create a premium complex modeled after a royal palace embraced by a forest, becoming Daegu’s top landmark.
To this end, Hyundai Engineering & Construction partnered with the global architectural firm Carlson RTKL (CRTkl), which has participated in major reconstruction projects such as Banpo Jugong Complex 1, 2, and 4 districts, Hannam 3 district, and Busan Beomcheon 4 district. The exterior design uses curtain wall looks and aluminum panels to express a towering giant tree, completing the sophisticated architectural beauty of a luxury residential complex.
Additionally, the complex will feature a 60-meter-long sky community with panoramic elevators, 12 diverse premium themed landscaping spaces centered around a central plaza twice the size of a soccer field, a duplex indoor golf practice range with a 6-meter-high ceiling, and a duplex multipurpose gym with an indoor jogging track, maximizing the complex’s appeal with luxury community facilities.
"HILLSTATE REGIA FORE" will secure approximately 6.6 square meters (about 2 pyeong) of additional usable area per household through innovative design improvements such as all units having 4Bays or more, three-sided balconies, duplex special features, and attic + terrace. It plans to create a pleasant living space with 374 medium-to-large units of 5Bays or more and 100% cross-ventilation in all units.
Last year, Hyundai Engineering & Construction achieved its highest-ever performance in the urban renewal business sector with new orders totaling KRW 5.5499 trillion, accomplishing the industry’s first-ever three consecutive years of first place. This surpassed the previous record of KRW 4.7383 trillion set in 2020 within just one year. Notably, it secured KRW 1.9258 trillion in remodeling projects alone, ranking first in the remodeling market in its first year of entry.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction’s winning streak in the urban renewal sector is expected to continue this year. Following last year, it plans to participate in bids for large-scale remodeling projects in Seoul and the metropolitan area, and mega projects worth trillions of won are approaching construction company selection mainly in major provincial metropolitan cities.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction has been selected as the preferred negotiation candidate for the remodeling project of Gangchon Apartments in Ichon, Yongsan-gu, with a construction company selection meeting scheduled for the end of February. It is also expected to be selected as the preferred negotiation candidate by participating solo in consortium bids for the remodeling projects of Daechi 2 Complex in Gangnam-gu and Seonsa Hyundai in Gangdong-gu.
Moreover, it is actively participating in bidding for the KRW 1 trillion-scale reconstruction projects of Gwacheon Jugong Complex 8 and 9, scheduled for construction company selection in the first half of the year, as well as the largest redevelopment projects in Daejeon, Jangdae B District, and Gwangju, Gwangcheon-dong redevelopment project.
A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official said, "Having established a solid position as a leading company in urban renewal projects by achieving the industry’s first-ever three consecutive years of first place last year, this year we will focus on strengthening our foundation rather than just competing for orders and pursue new orders. We will do our best to create synergy effects based on our brand competitiveness and advanced technology as a regional landmark with the highest product value in mega projects located in key locations of major metropolitan cities."
