Oh Se-hoon Visits Livelihood, Safety, and Quarantine Sites on First Day of Lunar New Year Holiday... Encourages Citizens and Medical Staff

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon will visit traditional markets, police stations, fire stations, hospitals, and other sites directly related to citizens' daily lives, including public safety and quarantine, to encourage citizens, medical staff, and other stakeholders during the Lunar New Year holiday.

On the first day of the holiday, the 29th, Mayor Oh will consecutively visit ‘Bidan-gil Hyundai Market’ and ‘Geumcheon Police Station’ in Geumcheon-gu, ‘Geumcheon Fire Station’, and ‘Misodeul Hospital’ in Guro-gu, which is designated and operated as a ‘COVID-19 Outpatient Clinic’, starting from 2 p.m. As this Lunar New Year holiday is expected to be a turning point for the spread of Omicron, the COVID-19 response situation will also be closely inspected.

At ‘Bidan-gil Hyundai Market’ in Geumcheon-gu, he will check the quarantine and safety situation for the holiday. He will exchange New Year greetings with citizens who came to buy ritual items and listen to the difficulties of market merchants who have been struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Next, he will visit the nearby ‘Geumcheon Police Station’ to urge thorough efforts to ensure citizens' safety during the holiday. At ‘Geumcheon Fire Station’, which opened on the 27th and was the only district among the 25 autonomous districts without a fire station, he will inspect the emergency patient transport system during the Lunar New Year holiday and encourage the 119 firefighters in charge of related duties.

Additionally, Mayor Oh will express his gratitude to the medical staff working hard on COVID-19 response even during the Lunar New Year holiday at ‘Misodeul Hospital’ in Guro-gu. ‘Misodeul Hospital’ is designated and operated as a ‘COVID-19 Outpatient Clinic’ providing face-to-face treatment to home care patients.

The COVID-19 Outpatient Clinic is a medical institution where home care patients can receive face-to-face consultations, X-ray examinations, and prescriptions for underlying diseases if desired. Currently, 13 such clinics are operating in Seoul. The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to establish them in all 25 autonomous districts by February.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, Seoul plans to operate at least two outpatient clinics (nine hospitals) by region, including ‘Misodeul Hospital’, to ensure that home care patients can receive timely face-to-face treatment.
