According to reports, just before 7 a.m. that day, a heavily snow-covered bridge over Penn Hollow Creek near Frick Park collapsed.


Three to four vehicles, including a bus, fell together, and about 10 people sustained minor injuries. No fatalities have been confirmed. Darryl Jones, Pittsburgh Fire Chief, confirmed, "The injured are not in life-threatening condition." Authorities are currently using drones to check if there are any people under the collapsed section. The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined.

This accident occurred just hours before President Joe Biden's visit to Pittsburgh. President Biden was scheduled to visit Pittsburgh to call for the passage of a $1 trillion infrastructure bill.


Immediately after the accident, the White House issued a statement confirming that President Biden's visit would proceed as planned. The White House said, "We are investigating the cause of the accident," and "The President expresses gratitude to those who rushed to help the people on the bridge immediately after the accident." According to the Associated Press, they formed a human chain to rescue the people who were on the bus that fell at the time.
