[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Regarding Democratic Party lawmaker Go Min-jung's criticism of People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok's decision to run in his constituency, asking, "Does this mean you refuse to relinquish power?" Lee responded, "I will acknowledge it if the Democratic Party creates a law preventing first-time candidates from running."
On the 27th, Go appeared on MBC Radio's 'Pyo Chang-won's News High Kick' and debated with People Power Party lawmaker Heo Eun-ah. When Heo said, "There are rumors that not all members of the Democratic Party support various bills, including the '586 retirement theory'," Go retorted, "Then what reform plans does the People Power Party have?"
Heo replied, "Reform plans such as tests during local elections are currently being prepared by leader Lee Jun-seok." Go then asked, "So is Lee Jun-seok also not running?"
Heo said, "Lee is a first-time candidate, so he has never been a member of the National Assembly," to which Go responded, "Doesn't that mean he might run in the future? Isn't that refusing to relinquish power?"
Heo replied, "Wasn't the Democratic Party talking about retirement for third- and fourth-term members? Our leader is a first-time candidate." Go then asked again to confirm Lee's candidacy, "So you mean he will run in the future?" and Heo answered, "Of course, he should run."
Meanwhile, Lee Jun-seok posted on his SNS, "I don't know what they are trying to do," adding, "I will acknowledge it if the Democratic Party creates a law preventing first-time candidates from running."
