[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Kim Man-bae (58, indicted in custody), the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management (Hwacheon Daeyu), has been additionally indicted on charges of bribing a prison officer.
On the 28th, the dedicated investigation team of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Team Leader Kim Tae-hoon, 4th Deputy Prosecutor) announced that Kim was additionally indicted for violating the Act on the Prohibition of Improper Solicitation and Graft (Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, also known as the Kim Young-ran Act).
Previously, Kim was suspected of handing over 1.65 million won upon his release from Seoul Detention Center after the first arrest warrant requested by the prosecution on October 14 last year was dismissed.
Meanwhile, Kim is also accused of conspiring with former Seongnam Urban Development Corporation Planning Director Yoo Dong-gyu, lawyer Nam Wook, and accountant Jung Young-hak during the Daejang-dong project to allocate at least 65.1 billion won in land development dividends and profits amounting to at least 117.6 billion won to Hwacheon Daeyu, thereby causing losses to Seongnam Urban Development Corporation (charges of breach of trust under the Specific Economic Crimes Act).
